Gas Transmission Company Limited (GTCL) approved its audited financial statements for the fiscal year 2023–2024 (FY24) at its 31st Annual General Meeting, which was held at the company’s head office in the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar administrative area in Dhaka on 17 November.
The meeting, convened following a directive from the High Court’s Company Bench, was presided over by Director (Operation) Dr Md Haiuzzaman Rahman Bhuiyan on behalf of the GTCL Board of Directors, said a media release.
Petrobangla Chairman Md Rezanur Rahman, a shareholder of the company, attended along with other shareholders and board members.
The AGM had been delayed due to ongoing litigation over revenue claims. The court subsequently ordered GTCL to proceed with the meeting for FY24.
According to the approved financial report, GTCL transported 21,59,900,000 cubic metres of gas through the national gas grid to six distribution companies during the fiscal year. The company also transported 1,89,800,000 litres of condensate.
GTCL earned Tk2,219.78 crore from gas transmission and Tk7.39 crore from additional income, bringing total revenue for FY24 to Tk 2,229.17 crore. The company deposited Tk 668.04 crore as corporate tax to the government treasury.
Shareholders reviewed the management report and discussed the company’s operational performance during the session.
GTCL stated that despite the challenges linked to revenue litigation, it remains committed to ensuring uninterrupted gas transmission across the national grid.
