The country’s first digital platform for the national freelancer registration and identity card program will be officially inaugurated on Tuesday.
This information was disclosed in a notification signed on Monday by Muhammad Jasim Uddin, public relations officer of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology.
According to the notification, the Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing (VAPT) of the nation’s first digital platform for national freelancer registration and ID card activities – freelancers.gov.bd – has been successfully completed. This ensures the platform’s security and technical capability.
Through this government-recognised digital ID card, registered freelancers will be able to easily avail various facilities including banking services, loan and credit card benefits, financial incentives, and government and private training.
It will further strengthen the credibility and professional standing of Bangladeshi freelancers in both domestic and international arenas.
The platform will also serve as a national freelancer database, where information regarding the number of freelancers, their skills, types of work, and market trends will be stored and updated. This information will play a crucial role for policymakers and relevant organisations in future planning and decision-making.
Through this initiative, the connection between banks, government institutions, and the private sector with freelancers will be further strengthened, which will elevate the country’s digital economy to new heights.
It is considered a strategic national initiative to expand self-employment opportunities for the youth, foreign currency earnings, and technology-based employment.
