The government has ordered 49 police inspectors into compulsory retirement after they completed 25 years in service.
The information was disclosed in a gazette notification signed by Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Manzur Murshed Chowdhury, on Thursday.
The notification said the police officials had been retired from government service “in the public interest” under the Government Service Act, 2018, after completing 25 years of service.

The officials sent on compulsory retirement will receive retirement benefits as per the relevant rules.
It is learnt that the retired police inspectors had served as officers-in-charge (OCs) at various police stations during parliamentary elections held under the previous Awami League government.
