The government has appointed a new commissioner for Barishal Metropolitan Police (BMP) and carried out a major reshuffle including Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs) in the Dhaka, Rajshahi and Khulna ranges.
In separate notifications issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Sunday, new postings were also announced for Superintendents of Police (SPs) in two districts.
According to the orders, DIG Abu Raihan Muhammad Saleh, previously attached to Police Headquarters, has been appointed as the new commissioner of BMP. He replaces DIG Ashik Sayeed, who has been transferred to head the Rajshahi Range.
DIG Md Iqbal Hossain, who previously served in the Special Branch (SB), has been posted to the Dhaka Range, while DIG Md Mostafizur Rahman has been transferred from the Barishal Range to head the Khulna Range.
In other senior-level changes, DIG Md Rezaul Haque has been moved from the Khulna Range to Khulna Industrial Police, while DIG Mohammad Shahjahan has been transferred from the Rajshahi Range to the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) in Dhaka.
The reshuffle also covers district-level postings in Faridpur and Jhalakathi.
According to the notifications, Superintendent of Police (SP) of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Mohammad Badrul Alam Molla has been appointed as SP of Jhalakathi.
In another order, Shahriar Mohammad Miazi, deputy commissioner (DC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), has been posted as SP of Faridpur.
The outgoing SP of Faridpur, Md Nazrul Islam, has been reassigned to the CID.
The ministry said the orders, issued in the public interest, will take effect immediately.
