Land Minister Md Mizanur Rahman Minu, MP on Monday said that he current government is working tirelessly to modernise land management step by step, making it citizen-friendly and technology-driven.
Minister said this at a press briefing ahead of the “Land Service Fair-2026.”
Addressing journalists, he said, “You are the conscience of the nation; you will keep us aware. We want to serve the country with honesty and dedication. In the past, many thought they owned the country and only their voice mattered. I want to emphasise – it is about us and our country.”
He added, “People have many expectations from this ministry. We know the path is difficult, but we are trying to be servants of the people. Those of us involved in politics can make mistakes; you will help keep us conscious.”
State Minister for Land Barrister Mir Mohammed Helal Uddin said, “We are working to make the Ministry of Land corruption-free and provide hassle-free services. Many citizens are unaware of the services we provide, and our goal is to make them aware. Despite automation, some services have not yet fully reached grassroots levels, especially in urban areas. This fair is being organised to inform citizens about these services.”
He added, “The honourable Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said that the people of Bangladesh are the owners of this country. Our ministry is no exception. Those who come for services should feel that they are the owners of the country while engaging with our work.”
Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Land A S M Saleh Ahmed said the ministry has already made land services accessible through digitalisation, including e-registration, online payment of land development tax, online collection of khatian and mouza maps, postal land services, and DCR fee submission.
Citizens can now receive services from home by paying the prescribed fees. Various projects are underway to automate all land services. The Land Service Fair will allow citizens to access services without hassle and gain a comprehensive understanding of automated land services, encouraging their use and promoting positive outcomes in land management.
Under the Ministry’s initiative, a three-day “Land Service Fair-2026” will be held nationwide at every upazila, district, division, and at Bhumi Bhaban in Dhaka from 19 to 21 May 2026. The fair aims to deliver easy, transparent, and automated land services to citizens and increase public awareness. This year’s theme is: “Citizen-friendly automated land management: secure land, prosperous future.”
The fair will promote awareness of automated services, guide citizens to access services from home without visiting land offices, provide direct services at the venue, encourage use of automated systems, motivate payment of land development tax, support government revenue growth, and ensure transparency and efficiency in land management.
A total of 5 central stalls, 15 stalls from the District Commissioner’s office in Dhaka and city circle offices, and 20 stalls at each division, district, and upazila will be set up to provide land services and information about automation. Other stalls will include the Land Record and Survey Department, Land Service Assistance Centres (LSFC), banks, and related organisations.
The fair will also feature audio-visual content, quiz competitions, public awareness seminars, discussions on land services, cultural programmes, and student participation activities. Booklets, leaflets, and stickers titled Bhumi Amar Thikana will be distributed among citizens.
Efforts have been made to ensure active participation from public representatives, local administration, educational and religious institutions, media, and civil society. Extensive publicity is underway through television, radio, Metro Rail, public announcements, banners, places of worship, social media, and local cable networks. Mobile Land Service Vans will provide services and raise awareness about land management.
The Ministry of Land hopes that “Land Service Fair-2026” will accelerate the transformation towards automated land management and build citizens’ trust and awareness in modern, technology-driven, and hassle-free land services.
Senior officials of the Ministry attended the press briefing.
