Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase has approved separate procurement proposals for lentil and edible oil, aiming to stabilise the market of essential goods before the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.
The decisions were made at the committee’s first meeting of the year, held on Tuesday at the Cabinet Division Conference Room in Bangladesh Secretariat. Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed chaired the meeting.
The committee approved the procurement of 10,000 metric tons of lentil via the national Open Tender Method (OTM), with an estimated cost of around Tk71.87 crore. The price has been fixed at Tk71.87 per kilogram.
This proposal was submitted by the Ministry of Commerce, and Payel Automatic Food Processing Mills in Chattogram has been selected as the supplier.
Additionally, the committee approved the import of 1,35,75,000 litres of refined soybean oil under the international Direct Procurement Method (DPM). The estimated cost for this procurement is around Tk178.47 crore, with the price set at Tk131.47 per litre.
The soybean oil will be imported from Thailand through Prime Corp World Company Limited.
