The government has announced a relaxation of the expiration date for passports used for Hajj registration. As a result, Hajj passengers can now register for the pilgrimage using expired passports.
A circular issued on Tuesday by the Hajj-1 branch of the Ministry of Religious Affairs states that the relaxation aims to facilitate the registration process for those wishing to go for Hajj in 2026.
The circular further clarifies that if a Hajj passenger or agency registers with an expired passport and intends to obtain a visa, the passport must be updated with its expiration date in the system at the time of Personal Identification (PDI). If not updated, the passenger will not be issued a visa.
According to the Saudi government’s Hajj roadmap, registration for Hajj 2026 will remain open until October 12.
