The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has increased gold prices in the local market after reducing them three times.
This time, the price of 22‑carat gold has been raised by Tk5,424 per bhori (11.664 grams), setting the new rate at Tk251,184 per bhori.
BAJUS announced the decision in a press release on Tuesday morning, saying that the new prices will take effect from 10:30am the same day.
Under the new rates, 21‑carat gold is now set at Tk239,754, 18‑carat gold at Tk205,520, and traditional gold at Tk168,195 per bhori.
The association also said that a mandatory 5 percent VAT set by the government and a minimum 6 percent making charge set by it must be added to the selling price. Making charges may vary depending on design and quality.
Earlier on Monday, BAJUS last adjusted gold prices, reducing the rate of 22‑carat gold by Tk5,424 to Tk245,760 per bhori. At that time, 21‑carat gold was priced at Tk234,563, 18‑carat at Tk201,087, and traditional gold at Tk164,523 per bhori.
With this latest change, gold prices have been adjusted 23 times so far this year—raised 15 times and reduced 8 times. In 2025, gold prices were adjusted 93 times, with 64 increases and 29 reductions.
Meanwhile, silver prices remain unchanged in the local market. Currently, 22‑carat silver is selling at Tk6,357 per bhori, 21‑carat at Tk6,065, 18‑carat at Tk5,202, and traditional silver at Tk3,907 per bhori.
So far this year, silver prices have been adjusted 15 times—raised 9 times and reduced 6 times. In 2025, silver prices were adjusted 13 times, with 10 increases and 3 reductions.
