Gal Gadot, speaking in Hebrew during an appearance on Israeli TV’s ‘The A Talks’, has suggested that widespread pressure on celebrities to denounce Israel played a significant role in the disappointing box office performance of Disney’s live-action Snow White.

Reflecting on the film’s reception, Gadot said she had “really enjoyed filming” and working with co-star Rachel Zegler, and believed the movie would be “a huge success.” However, she pointed to the aftermath of the October 7 attacks as a turning point.

“There’s a lot of pressure on celebrities to speak out against Israel,” she explained. “I can always explain and give context, but in the end, people decide for themselves. I was disappointed that the movie was so affected and didn’t do well at the box office.”

Snow White faced multiple controversies: Zegler’s outspoken support for Palestine and Gadot’s service in the Israel Defence Forces stoked political tensions that followed the film through its marketing and release.
