Pakistan Cricket Board has handed Lahore the grand stage for PSL 2026, confirming Gaddafi Stadium will host both the opening match on 26 March and the final on 3 May. The venue continues its grip on the league’s biggest night, staging the final for the fourth time in five seasons.
The 11th edition also expands the competition to eight teams for the first time. That change pushes the tournament to 44 matches spread across six cities, adding Faisalabad and Peshawar to the traditional venues of Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi and Multan.
Lahore remains the beating heart of the competition. Gaddafi Stadium will stage 15 matches, the most of any ground, ensuring the city once again dominates the league’s biggest moments.
Rawalpindi follows closely with 11 fixtures and carries a unique distinction. Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium will serve as home turf for two teams, hosting the twin-city derbies involving Islamabad and Rawalpindi on 4 April and 23 April.
The PCB has also tweaked the format to fit the expanded league. Instead of facing every opponent twice, each side will play ten matches, meeting seven teams once and three teams twice.
Some rivalries remain sacred. The blockbuster clash between Karachi and Lahore will take place twice, both staged under the lights at Gaddafi Stadium.
Despite the new venues, the tournament still leans heavily toward two cities. Lahore and Rawalpindi will host 26 of the 44 matches, leaving Karachi with just six and Faisalabad with seven during its PSL debut.
The knockout stage will also revolve around Lahore. Rawalpindi hosts the first qualifier, but every other playoff match and the final returns to Gaddafi Stadium, with 4 May kept as a reserve day.
Defending champions Lahore Qalandars already thrive on that turf, lifting three titles in the past four seasons. With the final once again landing in their backyard, the rest of the PSL field may feel like guests at someone else’s party.
