The funeral prayer of Dhaka Capitals assistant coach Mahbub Ali Zaki was held at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Friday. It took place after the Bangladesh Premier League match between Rajshahi Warriors and Dhaka Capitals. BCB president Aminul Islam Bulbul attended the prayer. Players, team officials, journalists, and a full crowd at the stadium also joined.
Zaki had fallen ill earlier in the day at the ground before the match. He suffered a heart attack and was rushed to hospital. He passed away on the way. Doctors later confirmed his death after emergency tests. He was 59.
After hospital formalities, his body was brought back to the stadium. It was later sent to his home in Comilla under family care.
Zaki was a senior coach and an important name in domestic cricket. His death has left the Dhaka Capitals players in shock. The cricket community is also in mourning. In a statement, the team expressed deep sorrow. They prayed for his soul and offered condolences to his family.
