For the first time in Bangladesh’s history, such a large-scale sporting event involving former students of every batch of a school was held at Captain’s Arena Turf in Isdair. A total of 22 teams participated in the tournament, representing batches from 1990 to 2024.
Organised by the Adarsha School Narayanganj Ex-Students Community, the football tournament under Sports Carnival 2025—titled Battle of Legends: Season 1—held its final on Friday, 5 September 2025. The unique feature of this widely talked-about tournament was the division into two groups: the senior group (1990 to 2008 batches) and the junior group (2009 to 2024 batches). Accordingly, two separate finals were played. In the senior group final, Adarsha-1990 defeated Adarsha-2003, while in the junior group final, Adarsha-2019 beat Adarsha-2020 to claim victory.
The chief advisor of the Sports Carnival is noted social worker and former councillor Maksudul Alam Khondoker Khorshed (Batch ’90), while the brand ambassador is Ekushey Padak awardee and SAFF Games-winning coach of the Bangladesh women’s national football team, Masud Ahmed Uzzal (Batch ’98).
Distinguished guests attending the final included eminent industrialist Shahid Alam (Batch ’83), Rotarian Kazi Zahidul Islam (Batch ’86), Abdullah Yusuf Saad and businessman Shahiduzzaman Sharif (Batch ’87), businessman Wahiduzzaman Rubel (Batch ’88), Narayanganj Chamber of Commerce vice-president Morshed Sarwar Sohel (Batch ’89), Lion Ashrafuluzzaman Hira (Batch ’96), renowned Narayanganj sports personality S M Arif Mihir, and prominent tax consultant Rashidul Islam Sejin. The carnival organising committee was led by Jahidul Hasan Jitu (Batch ’01) as president, with Yasir Sultan (Batch ’08) serving as member secretary.
All present expressed their determination to celebrate the success of the Sports Carnival. Former students from all batches of Adarsha School worked tirelessly to make the tournament a success.
This football tournament, the first of its kind in Bangladesh involving the participation of every former batch of a single school, has set a shining example of fraternity and unity—not only in Narayanganj but across the entire nation. Plans are already in place to expand the carnival with cricket, marathon, and other tournaments in the future.
