Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology’s (RUET) Student team, ‘Crack Platoon’ has qualified for the Formula SAE Japan 2025, which is being held from September 8 to September 13 at the Aichi Sky Expo, Japan. The team has already arrived in Japan for the event. Out of the 84 participating universities across Asia, Crack Platoon is the only team representing South Asia there.
“We’re fully confident. We have prepared long and hard for this. Our preparation and teamwork are our backup,” said the team captain, Sadman Saqueeb, a student of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering department of RUET.
The team has unveiled their third-generation electric vehicle, the CP-Astrion, with which they are competing in this year’s event. The car is equipped with a Tesla battery, a high-powered motor, and a lightweight composite body. The team believes the CP-Astrion will help them push past every barrier at the FSAE Japan 2025.
“All 17 members of our team worked hard on this. It took us seven months to put it together,” said Saqueeb.
This isn’t their first international appearance. Crack Platoon previously participated in FSAE Japan in 2017 and 2019. They also secured 4th place in the Business Plan Presentation at Formula Student Switzerland 2023 and achieved top ranks at Formula Bharat 2024. They have also partnered with Yamaha Bangladesh as their sponsor.
As one of Asia’s leading platforms for technology and innovation, FSAE Japan allows students to demonstrate engineering excellence and competitive spirit. For Crack Platoon, it’s not just about the competition- it’s about representing Bangladesh on the global stage as well.
“We aim to make a strong mark internationally and show what we, and more broadly, the engineers of Bangladesh are capable of,” said the student of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
RUET has been vocal in its support. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. S M Abdur Razzak called the team a source of pride. “RUET has always encouraged innovation and research. Our students are leaving their mark not only in Bangladesh but also on the global stage. Their creativity and technological innovations bring honour to both RUET and the country,” he said.
As the competition kicks off, the young engineers from Rajshahi carry with them more than just their car. They carry the hopes of a generation eager to prove that Bangladesh’s innovation can race with the very best in the world.
