Police recovered the body of former Notre Dame College teacher Dhirendra Kumar Roy from his residence in Dhaka’s Kalabagan area on Tuesday morning.
Kalabagan Police Station Sub‑inspector Atikur Rahman said Dhirendra’s daughter found him hanging at their home.
With the help of neighbours, he was taken to Green Life Hospital, where doctors declared him dead around 9:15am.
Police said his wife, Deepali Roy, a schoolteacher, had left for work earlier in the morning, while their daughter was asleep at home.
According to police, Dhirendra had long been under treatment for depression.
Family members said he had been receiving mental health care since 2025. Initial findings also indicated that his two brothers had died by suicide.
An investigation into the incident is underway.
