The Director General of Fire Service and Civil Defence has called for transforming the organisation into a transparent, accountable, and genuine service-providing institution through collective efforts.
Brigadier General Muhammad Zahed Kamal made the remarks on Wednesday during a durbar with officers and employees of all ranks at the Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters in Dhaka.
Upon his arrival at 11:00am, Director (Training, Planning and Development) Lt Colonel M A Azad Anwar greeted the DG and handed over the durbar, which began with a recitation from the holy scriptures by religious teacher Muhaddis Kazi Sharif Ullah.
During his address, the director general outlined steps taken and development initiatives implemented during his tenure. He expressed satisfaction with the Fire Service’s response and operational activities in various accidents nationwide.
Noting that operational successes were achieved through the efforts of personnel at all levels, Zahed Kamal extended heartfelt thanks to everyone while urging them to remain dedicated to upholding the institution’s reputation.
He also instructed necessary steps at all levels to implement applicable directives from the current government for Fire Service and Civil Defence.
The DG patiently listened to opinions and answered questions from officers and employees present in person and those connected online.
Following the durbar, the Director General honoured six individuals who participated in the successful rescue of a child from a deep tube well in Raozan, Chittagong. Each recipient was presented with a certificate, the “Director General’s Commendation” insignia, and cash.
The event was attended by department directors, project directors, the Welfare Trust managing director, and officers and employees of all ranks serving in Dhaka. Divisional Deputy Directors and District Officers joined online from their respective workplaces. The durbar concluded at 1pm.
