Two former Bangladesh captains, Faruque Ahmed and Minhajul Abedin Nannu shared their views after casting their votes in the 13th National Parliamentary Election and referendum on Thursday.
Faruque said there is no alternative to having proper fields in Dhaka. Nannu said the elected government must solve the division among clubs.
Bangladesh Cricket Board vice president Faruque Ahmed voted in the Dhaka 13 constituency at Kishaloy School in Mirpur. He was accompanied by his wife.
After voting, Faruque spoke about the need to improve sports facilities in the capital. He said young players need more grounds to grow and develop. He also referred to a recent speech about building new fields in the city.
“I have worked with Tarique Rahman’s younger brother. They are a very sports-loving family, and he has also said in a speech that he wants to build 40 to 50 fields in Dhaka city. This is a huge thing. There is no alternative to having proper fields,” Faruque said.
Former Bangladesh captain and selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu cast his vote in Mohammadpur.
Nannu focused on the problems in domestic cricket. He said the ongoing division among Dhaka based clubs is hurting the game.
“The elected government must solve this. The current division among clubs has to be resolved. We cannot move cricket forward this way. Progress is only possible through collective effort,” Nannu said.
