A fan rushed onto the field to touch Virat Kohli’s feet moments after the India batter completed his century in Ranchi on 30 November 2025.

The incident unfolded during the first ODI against South Africa, immediately after Kohli celebrated his 52nd ODI hundred, a landmark that further extended his world record for the most centuries in a single format.

Kohli reached the milestone off the final ball of the 38th over, steering Marco Jansen to the boundary. As he finished celebrating, a young spectator broke through security and sprinted directly towards him.

The fan, visibly emotional, bent down and touched Kohli’s feet as a mark of reverence. Security staff reacted swiftly, entering the field to remove the intruder. Kohli remained composed throughout; he cast a brief, concerned look but displayed no discomfort before continuing with the game. The fan was subsequently escorted out of the stadium.

Kohli’s century was his first in international cricket since February, his previous one having come against Pakistan in the Champions Trophy. Having long surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s historic ODI century tally, Kohli added further weight to his record with this latest ton.
