BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has once again sounded the alarm over what he described as a “deep-rooted conspiracy” aimed at derailing the forthcoming national election.
He urged teachers across the country to remain vigilant and committed to ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process.
“Teachers have an extremely significant role to play in the upcoming polls,” Fakhrul said while addressing a grand rally of teachers at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka on Tuesday.
“A serious conspiracy has already begun to deviate the election from its proper course. I call upon you to stay alert and stand firm against any such attempts.”
The Shikkhak-Karmachari Oikya Jote, a coalition of BNP-affiliated teachers and employees, organised the rally to observe World Teachers’ Day.
Participants pressed for a series of reforms, including an end to discrimination in the education system, the extension of the retirement age to 65, bringing all non-MPO institutions under the MPO scheme, and nationalising the jobs of teachers and staff at private educational institutions.
Fakhrul reaffirmed that all major demands of the teaching community have already been incorporated into BNP’s 31-point reform framework.
“If we are voted into power, these pledges will be implemented,” the BNP leader said.
“We also expect teachers to prepare their students to become honest, ethical and patriotic citizens capable of building a just and modern education system.”
He reiterated that BNP’s overarching goal is to lead Bangladesh towards democratic transformation and national prosperity, echoing the vision of the party’s founder, late President Ziaur Rahman.
“Our path and purpose are united – to build a prosperous Bangladesh,” Fakhrul asserted.
BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman joined the event virtually from London, with Shikkhak-Karmachari Oikya Jote Chairman Selim Bhuiyan in the chair.
Several senior BNP leaders, including Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Professor AZM Zahid Hossain, former state minister for education ANM Ehsanul Haq Milon, National University Vice-Chancellor Professor ASM Amanullah, and former Dhaka University Pro-VC AFM Yusuf Haider also addressed the rally.
Thousands of teachers and employees from across the country took part in the event, voicing both political support and professional demands as calls for electoral integrity continue to dominate national discourse.
