Cabinet Secretary Sheikh Abdur Rashid has said that a free and fair election can be held using the existing field administration.
Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat on Thursday, he clarified that the ministry will not make any transfers of officials, although the Election Commission (EC) has the authority to do so if it considers it necessary.
Abdur Rashid also noted that returning officers have completed the scrutiny of nomination papers. He urged anyone who believes there is bias on the part of the administration to report it formally.
He added that decisions by returning officers can be appealed to the EC if considered incorrect.
