The university said Fahad had been participating in tournaments at home and abroad for a long time as part of his preparation for the achievement.

Fahad narrowly missed securing the norm in the final round of an earlier tournament, but maintained his confidence this time and clinched victory in the decisive stages.

His eighth-round victory against Iranian International Master Pour Agha Bala Amirreza, who has a rating of 2453, proved crucial in securing the achievement.

Sonargaon University expressed pride over Fahad’s success and said the achievement would inspire students and strengthen Bangladesh’s position in the international chess arena.
