Ishaq bin Salim al-Siabi, who previously served as the vice president of Oman’s Shura Council, has called for sanctions against all US products.
In a post on the social media platform X, al-Siabi accused the United States of “betrayal” regarding negotiations that were intended to settle disputes and establish “lasting peace for all”.
The former official also alleged that the US government has conducted “overt, hateful, and unjust aggression” against innocent civilians who desire a “dignified, honourable, and peaceful life”.
Al-Siabi argued that there are now “many compelling reasons” to justify a boycott of all US merchandise.
Historically, Oman has acted as a key mediator in regional diplomacy, notably facilitating the talks between Washington and Iran that led to the 2015 nuclear agreement.
