The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit has arrested Iftarul Hasan Swapan, the nephew of former lawmaker of Bhola-1 Tofail Ahmed and former chairman of Dighaldi Union in Bhola.
Swapan was detained on Wednesday afternoon from Gulbagh area of Malibagh, Shahjahanpur, Dhaka, following a tip-off.
According to CTTC sources, Swapan faces multiple charges, including extortion, land grabbing, assaulting and threatening government employees, harassment of women, abusing journalists, and fraud involving taking money from individuals in exchange for employment opportunities.
Legal proceedings are now underway against the arrested individual.
