Mohammad Rassel, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Evaly, and Shamima Nasrin, the company’s Chairman and his wife, have been sent to jail through court after their arrest.
On Tuesday afternoon, when they were produced before Dhaka Joint Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court-7 and Special Tribunal-13, the respective courts’ judge, Minaj Uddin, ordered them to be sent to jail to serve their sentence.
Prior to this, Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s (DMP) Detective Branch (DB) arrested Mohammad Rassel and Shamima Nasrin from the Dhanmondi area. Later, they were produced in court under police escort.
In the afternoon, Dhanmondi Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Saiful Islam said that there are multiple warrants against Rassel, not only at Dhanmondi police station, but also at various police stations across the capital.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Media and Public Relations Division’s Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman revealed that 391 warrants had been found filed against the Evaly CEO and his wife.
They had been produced in court as arrested in these cases.
Rasel and Shamima were previously arrested from the Mohammadpur area of the capital on 16 September 2021 on charges of fraud and embezzlement. Later, both were released on bail, with Shamima released in April 2022, and Rassel released a few months later in December.
