Electronics Safety and Security Association of Bangladesh (ESSAB) has proposed duty cuts, value added tax (VAT) simplification, and policy incentives to support fire safety and electronic security in the FY2026–27 budget.
The proposals were presented at a pre-budget meeting with National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Md Abdur Rahman Khan at Revenue Bhaban in Agargaon on Monday, the association said in a statement.
ESSAB President Sqn Ldr Retd Md Didarul Islam led the delegation, joined by Vice President Rezaur Rahman, Joint Secretary General Mohammad Shohidul Islam, Executive Member Habibur Rahman Helal, and Member Mahmudur Rashid.
The association called for reducing import duties on essential fire-fighting and electronic security components to make them more affordable for businesses.
It also proposed incentives for smart building automation systems in line with the “Smart Bangladesh” vision and urged simplification of tax filing processes for security service providers to improve compliance.
NBR Chairman Md Abdur Rahman Khan said the government is working towards a fully digital tax system and a business-friendly environment.
He said the proposals would be reviewed with priority to support the growth of the safety and security sector.
“Our delegation presented a united front to advocate for citizen safety and industry growth. We are optimistic the upcoming budget will reflect the importance of fire safety and electronic security as essential services,” said ESSAB President Sqn Ldr Retd Md Didarul Islam.
The meeting ended with both sides agreeing to continue dialogue to align fiscal measures with national safety and revenue goals.
ESSAB is the apex trade body representing the fire safety, digital surveillance, and building automation industry in Bangladesh.
