Bangladesh batter Parvez Hossain Emon earned high praise from Lahore franchise owner Sameen Rana after showcasing composure in his Pakistan Super League (PSL) debut.
While Emon was dismissed early in his first overseas franchise match, he managed to steady Lahore’s innings under pressure and support his team beyond his natural attacking style.
Opening batters Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Naim gave Lahore a solid start with an 84-run partnership. Emon, usually an opener, came in at number four after Naim and Abdullah Shafique were dismissed, while Fakhar departed after reaching a half-century.
At 10 for three, Lahore were under pressure, but Emon and Hasibullah Khan built a 37-run stand off 30 balls, calming the innings. Emon batted cautiously, playing beyond his natural game, before falling for 14 runs off 13 balls, including a six.
Sameen Rana praised Emon for his maturity and team-first approach, saying in a video posted on Lahore’s official Facebook page:
“It’s not about hitting boundaries or quick runs. What matters is how you handle pressure. You went beyond your natural game and played for the team. That’s why I want to thank you.”
Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman also impressed, taking 1 wicket for 19 runs in 4 overs against Hyderabad Kingsmen, finishing as Lahore’s most economical bowler. This marks Mustafizur’s first PSL appearance since 2018, when he also represented Lahore.
Lahore will next face Karachi Kings on 29 March.
