ASSEN and ADFA have joined hands to launch ADFA Short Fest Season 1, an initiative aimed at encouraging emerging filmmakers and bringing fresh stories to the screen.
The jury panel for the festival features filmmaker Adnan Al Rajeev, director Mejbaur Rahman Sumon and cinematographer Kamrul Hasan Khasru.
Built around the idea of “This is your shot”, the initiative will give filmmakers from the Adfa community an opportunity to develop and present their original stories on screen.
Assen will provide a total production fund of Tk25 lakh for five selected short films.
Participants can submit ideas for original fiction films with a runtime of five to 15 minutes. There are no restrictions on language or genre.
Projects will be selected based on the originality of the story, the filmmaker’s creative vision, cinematic potential and feasibility.
Beyond financial support, the selected filmmakers will receive ADFA mentorship and development support to help turn their ideas into completed short films.
The initiative is designed to create a platform where emerging filmmakers can experiment with new narratives while receiving professional guidance throughout the development and production process.
The deadline for submissions is 3 September, while the five selected projects will be announced on 25 September 2026.
