Two more children died with measles-like symptoms across Bangladesh in the 24 hours to Saturday morning, taking the combined death toll from confirmed measles and suspected cases to 930 since 15 March.
During the same period, 880 children were reported with either confirmed measles or measles-like symptoms, according to the latest update issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday afternoon.
The deaths and new cases were recorded between 8am on Friday and 8am on Saturday.
The DGHS said both deaths in the past 24 hours involved children showing measles-like symptoms, while no child died from laboratory-confirmed measles during the period.
Since 15 March, 831 children have died with suspected measles symptoms and another 99 from confirmed measles, bringing the total number of deaths to 930.
In the latest 24-hour period, 65 children were confirmed to have measles, while another 815 were recorded as suspected cases.
A total of 758 children were newly admitted to hospitals during the period, while 593 were discharged.
DGHS data showed that since 15 March, the country has recorded 148,406 suspected measles cases and 18,273 confirmed cases.
Of them, 129,583 patients have been admitted to hospitals, with 125,151 discharged after treatment.
