Parvez Hossain Emon will leave for the United Arab Emirates at 9:30pm on Sunday to join Bangladesh’s squad for the ongoing tri-nation ODI series, according to a source close to the left-handed batter.
Emon is set to replace injured Litton Das, who has been ruled out of the tournament with a right hip joint injury. The wicketkeeper-batter suffered the injury ahead of Bangladesh’s opening match against Zimbabwe in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Physiotherapist Bayejedul Islam Khan said Litton had complained of pain in his right hip joint and an MRI scan revealed a problem in the joint. He subsequently failed a fitness test and was ruled unavailable for the remainder of the tournament.
Emon has played three ODIs for Bangladesh, with his last appearance coming against Sri Lanka in Pallekele in 2025. He was part of Bangladesh’s ODI squad for the Zimbabwe series before being omitted from the final squad for the UAE tri-series.
Bangladesh began their campaign with a 99-run defeat to Zimbabwe on Saturday. They will face Afghanistan in Sharjah on October 21.
