The Election Commission (EC) withheld the announcement of results in three constituencies of the 13th Parliamentary Election due to pending cases against the winning candidates.
The constituencies are Sherpur-2, Chattogram-2, and Chattogram-4.
According to the EC, the decision was taken because of a legal obligation to suspend publication of results until the cases against the winning candidates are finally resolved.
Md Shahidul Islam, senior assistant secretary of the EC Secretariat, issued three separate letters on Thursday night in this regard.
The winners in the constituencies are Mohammad Fahim Chowdhury in Sherpur-2, Sarwar Alamgir in Chattogram-2, and Mohammad Aslam Chowdhury in Chattogram-4. All three are BNP candidates.
