With the Eid holidays in full swing, Kuakata, the scenic sea beach often called Sagar Kanya (Daughter of the Sea), is witnessing a steady rise in visitors, reviving the festive atmosphere along the coast.
Tourist arrivals were initially modest at the start of the break, but from Friday morning onwards, the beach town began to fill with holidaymakers eager to enjoy the panoramic views of the Bay of Bengal. Traditionally, Kuakata sees its peak footfall from the afternoon of Eid day, but this year the influx has been gradual.
At Zero Point, families and friends strolled along the shoreline, children built sandcastles, and visitors soaked in the scenic surroundings. Other popular sites, including the confluence of the three rivers, Lebur Char, Jhau Forest, the dried fish village, and Gangamati, have also seen increased footfall.
Local hotel and motel operators expressed optimism that numbers would continue to rise in the final days of the holiday.
Tourist Police and other law enforcement agencies have been deployed across key locations to ensure safety and security. Inspector Jayanta Kumar Mondal of Kuakata Tourist Police said, “We are maintaining regular patrols at the beach and other tourist spots. Necessary arrangements have been made to provide a safe and pleasant environment for all visitors.”
