Edible oil prices have gone up in local kitchen markets. The price of bottled and loose soybean oil has been raised by Tk 6 and Tk 8 per litre, respectively. Additionally, the price of palm oil has increased by Tk 13 per litre.
The price of five-litre bottled soybean oil has gone up by Tk 23. The Bangladesh Vegetable Oil Refiners & Vanaspati Manufacturers Association confirmed the price hike in a press release issued Monday.
The release mentioned that the new price adjustments were made in consultation with the Ministry of Commerce to align with international market trends and would be effective immediately.
The price of bottled soybean oil has increased by Tk 6 per litre to Tk 195, while loose soybean oil has been raised by Tk 8 per litre to Tk 177.
In addition, the price of a five-litre bottle of soybean oil has been set at Tk 945, and the price of loose palm oil per litre has been fixed at Tk 163. These new prices will take effect from October 14.
Back in April, the price of bottled soybean oil rose by Tk 14 per litre to Tk 189, and loose soybean oil saw a rise of Tk 12 per litre, bringing the price to Tk 169.
At that time, the price of a five-litre bottle of soybean oil was set at Tk 922, while the price of loose palm oil was set at Tk 169. However, on August 12, the price of loose palm oil was revised downwards by Tk 19, bringing the price to Tk 150 per litre.
Additionally, in December last year, the price of bottled soybean oil was raised by Tk 8 per litre, setting the price at Tk 175 per litre.
The price of loose soybean oil was increased by Tk 8 per litre to Tk 157, while the price of a five-litre bottle of soybean oil was set at Tk 860, and loose palm oil was priced at Tk 157 per litre.
