The Election Commission (EC) has published a gazette revising the results of the referendum 13 days after the initial results were announced.
According to the revised gazette, the total votes cast have decreased by 10,73,616. More importantly, Yes’ votes have decreased by 9,74,680, and ‘No’ votes have decreased by 1,11,495.
This revised information was conveyed through an additional gazette signed by Election Commission Secretariat Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed on Thursday.
The gazette stated that the referendum was held on 12 February to ascertain public consent regarding the July National Charter Implementation Order, 2025 and the proposal for constitutional reform, aiming to exercise the sovereign power of the people expressed through the successful student-public mass uprising in July 2024. The

The gazette informed that according to the initial gazette’s calculation, the number of “Yes” votes was 4,82,00,660, and the number of “No” votes was 2,20,71,726. Among these, 74,22,637 were invalid.
According to the revised gazette, however, the “actual number” of “Yes” votes in the referendum was 4,72,25,980, and the number of “No” votes now stand at 2,19,60,231, with a few thousand additional votes deemed invalid.
This means that there are now 9,74,680 fewer “Yes” votes compared to before. On the other hand, the number of “No” votes has decreased by 1,11,495.
Additionally, while valid votes have decreased, the number of rejected votes has increased by 12,559 compared to before. Overall, the total number of votes cast has decreased by 10,73,616.
