The Election Commission (EC) has directed all candidates, who contested the 13th National Parliamentary elections to submit their election expenditure reports to their respective Returning Officers (ROs) by 15 March.
The order was issued on Wednesday in a letter signed by EC Senior Assistant Secretary ASM Iqbal Hasan and sent to all returning officers.
Under Article 44(g) of the Representation of the People Order, 1972, all candidates must submit their election expenditure returns within 30 days of the publication of the gazette listing the elected members.
The gazette for the 13th parliamentary elections, including the names and addresses of the newly elected MPs, was published on 13 February.
The EC letter instructed returning officers to ensure that all contesting candidates submit their detailed expenditure statements in line with Circular-18 issued for the 13th parliamentary elections.
Once collected, the information must be forwarded to the EC by 25 March.
With the 30-day period ending on 15 March, more than 2,000 candidates who participated in the elections are required to submit their expense returns to the returning officers by the deadline.
