The Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur has revised e-passport fees for expatriate Bangladeshis residing in Malaysia. This adjustment has been made due to significant changes in the exchange rate of the Malaysian Ringgit against the US Dollar.
The new fees will be effective from Monday, 19 January.
The information was disclosed in an emergency notice issued on Friday, signed by Pranab Kumar Bhattacharjee, counsellor and head of chancery of the Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur.
The revised fees include a 10 percent surcharge for the Wage Earners’ Welfare Fund and are based on the average exchange rate of the last six months.

- 48 pages (5-year validity): 164 Ringgit (previously 140 Ringgit)
- 48 pages (10-year validity): 273 Ringgit (previously 233 Ringgit)
- 64 pages (5-year validity): 817 Ringgit (previously 695 Ringgit)
- 64 pages (10-year validity): 953 Ringgit (previously 810 Ringgit)
Other Visa Categories (professionals and others)
- 48 pages (5-year validity): 545 Ringgit (previously 465 Ringgit)
- 48 pages (10-year validity): 681 Ringgit (previously 580 Ringgit)
- 64 pages (5-year validity): 817 Ringgit (previously 695 Ringgit)
- 64 pages (10-year validity): 953 Ringgit (previously 810 Ringgit)
ESKL service charges
For services including application form completion, document preparation, interviews, bio-enrolment, scanning, and online appointments for passport delivery, general workers and students must pay 32 Ringgit, while other applicants will be charged 60 Ringgit.
The High Commission stated that the decision to adjust government fees and the welfare fund surcharge was necessitated by the depreciation of the Ringgit against the Dollar. Expatriates have been requested to receive services by paying the fees at the new rates from the scheduled date.
