A student, who had come to Dhaka University to appear for the admission test, suddenly fell ill and later died, authorities said.
The deceased was identified as Taheruzzaman Akash, 22, son of father is Ismail Hossain of Pirojpur district.
The incident took place around 3:15pm on the ground floor of the Mokarram Building, Department of Computer Science.
Akash was first taken to the Dhaka University Medical Centre and later transferred to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where doctors pronounced him dead.
DU Proctor Professor Saifuddin Ahmed confirmed that the admission test for the Khulna Division was underway at the time.
He said Akash fell ill on the building’s balcony, prompting immediate medical attention.
Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police out post, confirmed the death and said the body has been placed in the emergency morgue. The incident has been reported to Shahbagh Police Station for further investigation.
