Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed on Sunday confirmed that the government is working towards ensuring that all school textbooks are distributed by January 1, 2026.
Speaking to reporters after attending meetings of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase (ACCGP) and the Advisers Council Committee on Economic Affairs (ACCEA) at the Cabinet Division, Dr Salehuddin said that orders for printing textbooks for certain classes have already been placed.
“The authorities are now reviewing the list of recipient institutions to ensure that no school has received multiple allocations or engaged in any irregular practices in the past,” he added.
Dr Salehuddin emphasized that the government is focused on ensuring a smooth process for schools that have received textbooks properly in the past, while also investigating allegations that some institutions may have obtained more than their share.
“We are determined to finalize the list within the next two weeks so that textbooks can be distributed on schedule,” Dr Salehuddin assured. “Our target is clear: students must receive their textbooks on time, by January 1.”
