Jahangirnagar University (JU), one of Bangladesh’s leading public residential universities, officially welcomed its new students for the 2024–25 academic session, with classes for first-year students beginning on Sunday.
The Department of Journalism and Media Studies held an orientation programme for its incoming students at 11:00 am in the department’s hall room. The event saw participation from both teachers and students, ranging from the 49th batch (master’s) to the 54th batch (freshers).
The orientation was led by Department Chairperson Mridha Md Shible Noman, along with several associate and assistant professors. During the event, students and teachers delivered speeches, offering their warm wishes and words of encouragement to the freshers.
As part of the programme, the new students were taken on a visit to the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Nabinagar, a tradition meant to instill a sense of national pride and history.
The department’s orientation serves as a crucial step in helping students integrate into university life, providing them with an opportunity to connect with faculty and peers, as well as learn about the academic journey ahead.
