The government has appointed Professor Dr Mahbub Ullah as a “National Professor.” The Secondary and Higher Education Division of Ministry of Education issued a notification regarding this appointment on Monday.
Mahbub Ullah served as the first pro-vice chancellor of National University. Moreover, he has a long and distinguished teaching career at both Chittagong University and Dhaka University.
According to the official notification, he has been appointed to this prestigious post for a five-year term in accordance with the Bangladesh National Professor Policy 2023.
While serving in this capacity, He will not be considered a government official. He is permitted to conduct research work according to his preference.
However, he must inform the Secondary and Higher Education Division and University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh regarding his research subjects and fields.
In terms of remuneration, he will receive salary, allowances, and other benefits equivalent to Grade 1 of National Pay Scale 2015. Additionally, he is prohibited from engaging in any other paid employment during his tenure as a national professor.
