Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) distributed a total of TK92 lakh 4 thousand 600 in scholarships to 731 students on 11 May 2026. The event was held at the Gulshan-2 City Hall, where DNCC Administrator Mohammad Shafiqul Islam Khan presented the scholarship checks, said in a press release.

The DNCC Administrator, in his speech as Chief Guest, said in a press release that the scholarship programme plays a vital role in fostering the intellectual development of students and promoting education. He explained that through this initiative, DNCC is supporting talented students from low-income families, enabling them to pursue their academic careers. He also encouraged the students to focus on becoming skilled human resources in various professions.

He emphasised that, while the students’ role is crucial, parents also bear responsibility in providing the right care and creating opportunities for their children’s intellectual growth.

The Administrator also highlighted the importance of public awareness in combating dengue during the rainy season. He urged citizens to regularly clean standing water in households, gardens, flower pots, buckets, and other containers to prevent mosquito breeding grounds. “Controlling dengue is not possible without the active participation of citizens,” said the Administrator, urging everyone to contribute to cleanliness in their surroundings. He also invited people to join the “Saturday’s Commitment, Let’s Keep Our Homes Clean” campaign.

In his address, DNCC Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Asaduzzaman stated that the scholarship programme is based on the 2017 policy. He noted that while 69 students received scholarships last year, this year the number has increased to 731. He further mentioned that the core aim of the programme is to motivate talented students from low-income families and expressed plans to expand the initiative further in the future.

Chief Engineer Brigadier General Syed Rakibul Hasan shared that students’ development is not only dependent on their intelligence but also on the proper care and guidance of their families. He stressed that it is the responsibility of parents to ensure their children are well-cared for and prepared to grow into capable citizens of the state.
