Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have arrested 512 people in the capital during their regular drives over the past 24 hours. A total of 48 cases have also been filed during the period.
Among those arrested, 39 were detained by the Ramna Division, 40 by the Lalbagh Division, 70 by the Wari Division, 71 by the Motijheel Division, 47 by the Tejgaon Division, 116 by the Mirpur Division, 56 by the Gulshan Division, 56 by the Uttara Division and 17 by the Detective Branch (DB).
During the drives, police recovered 1.204kg of cannabis, 16,333 yaba tablets, 50 bottles of Eskuf syrup, 4 grams of heroin, five motorcycles and Tk15,400 in cash.
Police conducted the operations in different police station areas of the capital and arrested the accused along with the seized items.
Legal action against those arrested is underway, the DMP said.
