Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 296 people and filed 46 cases during its routine drive across the capital in the 24 hours leading up to the morning of Thursday.
The drive was conducted by different divisions of the DMP.
According to DMP, 54 people were arrested by Tejgaon division, 52 by Wari division, 42 by Uttara division, 41 by Mirpur division and 36 with Motijheel division, 22 by Ramna division , 21 by Lalbagh division, 21 by Gulshan division, and seven by the Detective Branch (DB).
During the drives, law enforcers recovered a significant quantity of narcotics, including 132 kg of cannabis, 14,765 Yaba tablets, and 2 grams of heroin.
In addition to the drugs, police recovered various items and weapons from the possession of the arrestees, including one motorcycle, one knife, two anti-cutters, one auto-rickshaw, and one CNG.
13 mobile phones, one jeep, one key, one cocktail, and seven plastic containers filled with petrol were also recovered.
The drives were carried out in different police station areas of the capital to recover weapons and narcotics.
Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals is underway, DMP said.
