Bangladesh is set to host the AFC Asian Cup Qualifier between Afghanistan and Myanmar after the Afghanistan Football Federation requested assistance due to their lack of suitable home facilities. The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has agreed to organise the fixture on 18 November at the Bashundhara Kings Arena in Dhaka.
The same day, Bangladesh will face India in their own Group C qualifier at the Bangabandhu National Stadium, making it a landmark double-header of international football in the capital.
By hosting the Afghanistan–Myanmar clash, Bangladesh will officially enter a new chapter in its football journey as a neutral home venue for international matches, a significant step in the nation’s growing reputation as a capable football organiser.
In an official statement, the BFF confirmed that Afghanistan formally approached them to host their home fixture. Following approval from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and agreement from the Bashundhara Kings management, all parties consented to stage the match in Dhaka.
The BFF described the development as “a proud moment” for Bangladesh football, showcasing the country’s readiness to contribute to regional football beyond its own participation.
The decision also highlights the continued rise of football infrastructure in Bangladesh. With the Bashundhara Kings Arena now established as one of South Asia’s most modern football venues, the country is becoming a trusted location for hosting international competitions.
