Shaheda Ahmed, 50, principal of Dhaka Oxbridge International School, has died after a gas cylinder leak in Sreepur, Gazipur.
She passed away on Sunday morning while undergoing treatment at the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute in Dhaka.
The tragedy was confirmed by her husband, Jasim Uddin, president of the Managing Committee of Gazipur High School.
Relatives said Shaheda Ahmed had returned home to Shreepur village for Eid holidays.
On Wednesday, 25 March, a gas cylinder leaked in the kitchen, triggering a fire that engulfed the house. She sustained severe burns and was initially treated at Al-Hera Hospital.
Due to her deteriorating condition, she was transferred to the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute in Dhaka.
Approximately 55 percent of her body had sustained burns, and she was placed on life support. Her condition worsened, leading to her death on Sunday morning.
Shreepur police officer-in-charge, Mohammad Nasir Ahmed, said the incident had not yet been formally reported to the station. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fire.
