Rail communication on the Dhaka–Mymensingh route resumed early Thursday after remaining suspended for nearly four hours when a tree fell on the track.
The disruption began around 9:30pm on Wednesday after a large tree collapsed on the railway line at Jabbar’s Mor near Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), halting train movement.
The Mymensingh-bound Jamuna Express remained stranded at the spot, bringing rail services on the route to a complete halt.
Police and members of the BAU Fire Station rushed to the scene after receiving information and started efforts to clear the track.
Fire service officials said they received the emergency call through the national helpline 999 around 10:00pm and immediately began the operation.
After nearly three hours of work, the uprooted tree was removed from the track at around 1:15am.
Train movement between Dhaka and Mymensingh resumed around 1:30am, restoring normal rail communication.
