Following a prolonged nine-day holiday on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, all government offices, banks, and courts reopened on Sunday as regular working hours resumed from 9am to 5pm.
With this, activity has begun to return to both public and private offices across Dhaka.
The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) also resumed its subsidised product distribution programme on Sunday, after remaining closed during the Eid holidays.
The last working day before the holidays was Thursday, 27 March. The nine-day holiday period began with the regular weekend (28–29 March), followed by the government-declared Eid holidays on 30, 31 March and 1 April.
Additional leave was granted through executive orders on 2 and 3 April. Including the weekends, employees in both the public and private sectors enjoyed an extended break.
Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated on Monday, 31 March. Now, as the holidays come to an end, employees are returning to their workplaces, and daily life in Dhaka is gradually regaining its usual rhythm.
