Authorities cleared illegal structures and shops from Suhrawardy Udyan on Sunday in a joint operation involving the Public Works Department, the University of Dhaka, Dhaka Metropolitan Police and Dhaka South City Corporation.
DSCC Executive Magistrate Mohammad Aminul Islam, identification number 17999, led the afternoon drive, which removed all unauthorised structures and shops and cleared the park area.
Members of the University of Dhaka’s proctorial body, law enforcement personnel and Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad, executive engineer of the Dhaka City Public Works Division, were present during the operation.
DSCC said the eviction campaign would continue to protect the public interest and preserve the park’s normal environment.
