Three more people have died from dengue in the last 24 hours till Tuesday morning, bringing the country’s total death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 401 his year.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), during the same period, 421 patients were admitted to hospitals nationwide due to dengue, pushing the total number of hospitalisations this year to 98,705.
Of these, 96,760 patients have recovered and been discharged, while 1,945 remain under treatment in various hospitals across the country.
A review of monthly data shows that November recorded the highest number of deaths this year, with 99 fatalities. October saw 80 deaths, September 76, August 39, July 41, and June 19.
Earlier in the year, April recorded seven deaths, May three, January 10, February three, and March reported no dengue-related deaths.
