Two more people have died from dengue in the 24 hours till Wednesday morning, raising the death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 275 this year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
During the same period, 964 new patients were hospitalised with the viral fever, bringing the total number of reported cases to 68,428 since January.
Both deaths were recorded under the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) areas.
At present, 1,009 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across Dhaka, while 2,841 others are undergoing treatment nationwide.
DGHS data shows that among this year’s patients, 62 percent are male and 38 percent female. Of the total fatalities, 53.1 percent were men and 46.9 percent women.
Last year, dengue claimed 575 lives across the country, with 101,214 recorded cases and 100,040 recoveries during the same period.
