Four members of a family, including a couple and their two children, were found dead at their home in the Pallabi Bihari Camp, Section-11, WAPDA, Mirpur on Thursday.
The deceased have been identified as Mohammad Masum, 35; his wife Fatema Akter Sumi, 32; and their two children, 3.5-year-old Minhaj and 1.5-year-old Asad.
Farzina Nasreen, assistant deputy commissioner (ADC) of Mirpur Division under Dhaka Metropolitan Police, confirmed the recovery of the bodies and stated that authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident.
According to Sub-Inspector (SI) Sohan, the duty officer at Pallabi Police Station, police responded swiftly upon receiving information from locals.
SI Ibrahim and his team arrived at the scene and recovered the bodies from a house near the WAPDA camp on 3rd Road of Pallabi Bihari Camp.
Preliminary reports suggest that Masum had been struggling with significant financial debt. Investigators believe the couple’s two children were murdered before the parents took their own lives.
Pallabi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) AM Alamgir Jahan said police are continuing their investigation to determine the full details of this tragic event.
