The fifth song of Coke Studio Bangla Season 3, ‘Long Distance Love’, has been released, capturing the bittersweet emotions of romance in the digital age. The duet is performed by rising stars Ankan Kumar and Sheikh Mumtahina Mehjabin Afrin, also known as ‘Modern Otaku’.
The music is composed by Shuvendu Das Shuvo, with lyrics by Ankan Kumar and Bangladeshi singer-songwriter Pragata Naoha, who is based in Canada.
For the first time in a Coke Studio Bangla song, the visual is presented entirely in black and white, emphasizing emotion, light and shadow over color. The interplay of darkness and light mirrors the dual themes of love and distance, giving the video a timeless, cinematic feel.
Produced by Runout Productions and directed by Adnan Al Rajib, the video was shot in an abandoned gallery, where contemporary dancers convey the pain of separation and the strength of love through movement.
Speaking about the song, Ankan said, “Long Distance Love is not just a duet, but a fusion of voices and emotions. Performing at Coke Studio Bangla and collaborating with such talented musicians has been truly inspiring. I hope this song resonates with anyone who has held on to love across distance.”
Afrin added, “Singing Long Distance Love felt like living those emotions firsthand. It’s a story of love that remains unbroken, no matter the distance. I hope the audience can feel the tenderness and strength we aimed to convey.”
Composer Shuvendu Das Shuvo explained, “This song was my attempt to express silence through music. In Long Distance Love, not many words are exchanged. I wanted the song to capture that feeling, while also leaving room for hope. The story unfolds not only through music, but also in the pauses between notes.”
